"Apakah Hala Tuju Anda Selepas SPM" Online Talk

In April 2026, an online sharing session titled “Apakah Hala Tuju Anda Selepas SPM?” was conducted for 15 Form 4 and Form 5 students from Hostel Rose Kudat, Sabah. The one-hour session was led by Mr Philips Dharmaraj, Lecturer of the Mechatronic Programme at the Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, who shared valuable insights on TVET and the wide range of academic pathways available to students after SPM.

During the session, students were introduced to the UPU Online application process as well as the many study opportunities offered by polytechnics and other higher education institutions. The session was especially beneficial for Form 4 students who are still exploring their future study and career directions.

Mr. Philips also shared practical study tips, particularly on Mathematics, which remains an important requirement for many technical and engineering-related programmes. In addition, he highlighted the importance of English proficiency in TVET education, especially within technical disciplines such as engineering and technology.

Beyond technical programmes, students were also exposed to the wide variety of hands-on and skills-based courses available through government community colleges. These included fields such as culinary arts, welding, and other vocational programmes offered at certificate, diploma, and degree levels.

The session provided students with greater awareness and confidence in planning their educational journey after SPM. At the end of the session, Mr. Philips generously shared his email address and contact number with students who may require further guidance or consultation.

Looking ahead, it is hoped that a small-scale education expo can be organised in Kudat, Sabah next year. Such an initiative would allow students and parents to engage directly with representatives from educational institutions, particularly for families who may not have the opportunity to travel to Kota Kinabalu to attend larger education fairs.
