Acts of Kindness Have Multiple Stops

Acts of kindness have multiple stops

In January 2024, our team was in Pulau Carey, taking the first steps in connecting with the Orang Asli community, particularly through youth development initiatives. It was a meaningful start, filled with conversations, learning, and a shared hope of creating opportunities for the community.

Just a week later, the journey continued in Cameron Highlands, where the team spent two weeks running youth and children development programmes with the Orang Asli community there.

Then, the focus shifted down south. About 271 kilometres away in Kluang, Johor, continuous heavy rain had begun raising concerns among families facing the possibility of floods and evacuation. A call from our Senior Project Coordinator quickly set things in motion. Having identified the immediate needs of several affected families, she rallied the team into action.

Within an hour, funds were raised through phone calls to kind-hearted supporters and sponsors — thank you, truly, to each of you who stepped forward without hesitation. The team immediately mobilised themselves to purchase and prepare essential food rations for those affected.

The very next day, our volunteers were on the ground distributing food parcels to families impacted by the heavy rainfall and flash floods. Well done, Deffy, and everyone involved for responding with such urgency and compassion.

The experience reminded us of an important lesson: in times of crisis, timely action matters. Beyond discussions and plans, what truly makes a difference is the willingness to step forward and help when it is needed most. Compassion @ Work.

And almost without pause, the following day saw the team back in Kuala Lumpur, joining a fundraising presentation alongside the rest of us.

Because acts of kindness never really stop. They simply continue from one place to another!
